(NECN) - The Central Massachusetts town of West Boylston turns 200 this year and residents plan to make the milestone a memorable one.
Wednesday's kickoff came exactly 200 years ago to the day that West Boylston was incorporated as a town.
A state proclamation officially designated Wednesday as Ezra Beamen Day, recognizing the town's founder.
Two local residents played the part of Beamen, young and old, bringing him to life and allowing residents to reflect on his life.
The celebration was held at West Boylston High School.
