What is Letterboxing? |
| Come
one! Come all! Bicentennial Letterboxing
is a family event designed to learn
about the town’s past and make a memory
that will last! Letterboxing is an
outdoor activity that sends participants
on a treasure hunt around the town.
Small, weatherproof boxes called
letterboxes, are hidden in
publicly-accessible places and clues for
finding them are available for program
participants. Each letterbox contains a
log book and a rubber stamp. When a
container is located, finders make an
imprint of the letterbox's stamp in
their personal log book, and leave an
imprint of their personal stamp in the
letterbox's log book.
This event
is a fun and exciting opportunity for
you and your family or friends to become
part of the celebration. It’s the
perfect way to travel through time
together since each box captures a
special moment in the town’s past.
Bicentennial Letterboxing allows you to
go back in history to visit places that
are still a part of West Boylston today!
You’ll need a few things to get started.
You need a trail name, rubber stamp,
pencil or pen, small sketch book, an ink
pad, and the clues.
